FAQ · The Flight
Routes, Aircraft & the Flight
What a flight over Bali feels like, where each route goes, which helicopter you fly in and how a custom charter works.
The Aerial Perspective
On the ground, Bali’s highlights sit hours apart. From the air they join up: Batur’s caldera, the Tegallalang terraces, the Uluwatu cliffs and Kelingking on Nusa Penida, all within one 30 to 90-minute flight from DPS heliport.
The questions below cover what you see, which aircraft you fly and how to shape a route around you.
Questions by Topic
The Flight, Explained
Booking and payment questions are on our main FAQ page. These are about the flight itself.
01 The Experience
Why see Bali by helicopter?
Bali’s roads turn short distances into long drives. From the air, volcanoes, terraces and coast link up in one continuous view, in a fraction of the time.
How is it different from a road or boat tour?
You see how the landscape fits together — the caldera, the terrace patterns, the cliffs — instead of one viewpoint at a time.
Can I see Nusa Penida without the ferry?
Yes. Longer routes cross the strait to Kelingking’s T-Rex cliff and return to DPS heliport within the same flight.
Who is a helicopter tour for?
First-time visitors short on time, honeymooners, families, photographers and event guests who want Bali’s highlights in a single flight.
02 Routes & Durations
What can I see in 30 minutes?
The southern coast: the Bukit peninsula and Uluwatu temple on its cliff, about 70 m above the sea.
What does a 60-minute flight cover?
Inland to Mount Batur and its crater lake, over the Tegallalang rice terraces, then back along the coast.
What is the 90-minute route?
The widest loop: Mount Agung at 3,031 m, the Sidemen valley, and Nusa Penida’s Kelingking cliff.
Can you fly over a particular place?
On a private charter, often yes, subject to air traffic control approval. Ceremonies are viewed from a respectful distance.
03 The Aircraft
Which helicopters do you fly?
The Bell H125 and the Robinson R66, both turbine helicopters operated under DGCA oversight.
How many guests fit?
The Bell H125 seats up to 5–6 guests. The Robinson R66 seats up to 3.
Which is better for photography?
The Bell H125, with its larger cabin and big windows, gives photographers more room and wider views.
Which suits a couple?
The Robinson R66 is lighter and more intimate — a natural fit for two or three guests.
04 Pilots & Safety
Who oversees the flights?
All flights operate under the oversight of Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Who flies the helicopter?
Commercially licensed pilots with turbine ratings and local knowledge of Bali’s weather and terrain.
Is there a safety briefing?
Yes, before every flight: seatbelts, exits, boarding and how to communicate with the pilot.
How is the aircraft maintained?
To Bell and Robinson maintenance schedules, under DGCA oversight.
What about the weather?
Conditions are checked before every flight. If it is not safe, the flight does not go and we reschedule with you.
05 Custom Flights
Can I design my own route?
Yes, on a private charter. Tell us the places and the light you want, and we plan a route within safety limits.
Do you plan flights for weddings and shoots?
Yes. We work with your photographer on timing and angles, often around golden hour.
Can you fit a fly-by around an event?
Yes. VIP and MICE guests can book short, precisely timed fly-bys that fit an event schedule.
Can you add something special on board?
Celebration touches can be arranged for private charters with prior notice. Ask our concierge what is possible.
