The Essentials

Four Things to Get Right

Bali is warm and humid year-round, and the sun is strong above the clouds. Pack for comfort first.

Apparel

Light-coloured linen or cotton, plus a thin layer — the air cools slightly with altitude and cabin airflow.

Footwear

Supportive sandals or canvas sneakers for helipads and steps. Leave high heels behind.

Sun protection

Broad-spectrum SPF 50+, a wide-brimmed hat, polarised sunglasses and SPF lip balm against glare off the sea.

Photography

Charged camera or phone, a spare battery and cards, a secure strap and a soft lens cloth.

Culture

A sarong or light scarf covers shoulders and knees for any temple stop before or after your flight.

Practical extras

Water bottle, a little rupiah cash for small stalls, a photo of your ID and any personal medication.

Dry vs Wet

Pack for the Season

The season changes a few items in your daypack — the basics stay the same.

  1. Apr – Oct

    Dry Season

Clear skies and little rain. Focus on sun protection and lightweight comfort.

    • SPF 50+ and lip balm
    • Wide-brimmed hat
    • Polarised sunglasses
    • Thin layer for the cabin
  2. Nov – Mar

    Wet Season

Short tropical showers, usually in the afternoon. Protect your electronics and expect damp ground at any landing stop.

    • Water-resistant daypack
    • Quick-drying outer layer
    • Dry bag for electronics
    • Shoes that handle mud
  3. Every flight

    Year-Round Basics

Bali stays warm and humid in every month, and the sun is strong whatever the forecast.

In the Cabin

Keep Your Gear Secure

Cabin space is limited, and anything dropped mid-flight is hard to recover.

  • Choose your lens on the ground

A versatile zoom covers landscapes and close detail — avoid lens changes once airborne.

  • Tether everything

Neck or wrist straps for cameras, a lanyard or grip for phones. Keep devices firmly in hand.

  • No loose items

Stow spares in a small soft case, and keep gear clear of other guests and the pilot.

Pre-Flight Checklist

The Day Before You Fly

Four quick checks so your only focus on the day is the view.

  1. Reconfirm the details

Check your departure time and the DPS heliport meeting point the day before.

  2. Charge and format

Charge batteries, phone and power bank; clear your memory cards; attach straps.

  3. Eat light, drink well

Have a light, non-greasy meal and stay hydrated, without drinking a lot just before boarding.

  4. Pack the daypack

Layer, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, sarong and any personal medication.

Prone to motion sickness? Ask your doctor about a non-drowsy remedy before the flight.

Packing Questions

Before You Pack

The questions guests ask most, answered briefly.

Ask a Question Mon–Sat · 08:00–17:00 WITA
Will it feel cold up there?

Only slightly. The air cools a little with altitude and cabin airflow, so a thin layer is enough.

Can I bring a full camera kit?

Yes. Pick one versatile zoom, strap every device and plan to avoid lens changes in flight.

What shoes should I wear?

Comfortable, supportive sandals or sneakers. Avoid heels or bulky footwear in the cabin.

Do I need a sarong?

Only if you visit a temple before or after the flight — shoulders and knees must be covered.

What if it rains?

In the wet season, bring a water-resistant bag for electronics and a quick-drying layer. Your pilot makes the final weather call.
